.:I'm Late:.

And it's no wonder that this blog is a bit unorganized. I could even say that this blog is pretty much a reflection of how I live my life. I'm not the most punctual or "on top of it person". For example, right now I have to exchange some shoes at Macy's, then I have to pay from a singing class I hardly attended because I always forgot or got all mixed up. I have stuff to do! But here I am, half asleep watching VH1, conveniently forgetting everything having to do with responsability. Maybe some of it has to do with the fact that I haven't slept much lately. But who knows... And btw, I'm not complaining, I'm just trying to figure out me... or something. :)
Oh yeah a hurricane is suppposed to come here, maybe. These weather people should get a job!

Later,
Ivonne

Bad Education

In other news, it seems that Pedro Almodóvar is angry because Gael García hasn't lost weight in time to do one of his papers in the new Almodóvar movie: The Bad Education or... "La Mala Educación". Gael has three different roles in that movie and I went to the club cultura forum to see what the spanish think of this and some say that Pedro should lose the weight himself. lol Either way I answered that Gael is lucky to be cast in an Almodóvar movie so if I were him I'd lose the weight fast!... We'll see what happens. I think after all this movie is gonna be another hit for Spain and mostly for Pedro.

If your'e an Almodóvar fan, this is the page to go to. Just go there, click on "Cine Club" or Pedro Almodóvar and have fun! You can see the site in spanish, english or french. Enjoy!

Friend Shmend...

Friend is a big word. Some people use it like it's trash. I don't really know how much I'm making sense here, but it's ok. The thing is, I have this "ex-friend" who shall remain nameless. Her ego has gotten the best of her and since people are not stupid, people are starting to see her how she really is... And the funny thing is that she acts like she's made of stone when she is as weak and error ridden as any of us. Such is life, and after all I hope that whatever happens, she learns how to be a real friend to someone since for me, it's too late.

That is the question?!

This is the first day of the rest of your existence? I've been movie gazing for days now. I can highly recommend, "Bend it Like Beckham" a movie about an indian girl that desperately wants to play football soccer and her parents don't think it's right for her to be a sportswoman. I laughed, I cried... (well, not really). It was a good way to spend two hours of my night though. I also watched a french movie called 8 Women by this up and coming french director called, François Ozon who is really hot right now. He directed the movie "Swimming Pool" which I really want to see. I also saw "Bowling for Columbine" and LOOOOOOVED IT! Mike Moore does great in this documentary about the Columbine high school Massacre and about gun violence in the United States. God! If you haven't seen it do yourself a favor and rent it or buy it. Oh yeah I'm supposed to continue my Europe story. But you know what? Let me do a recap instead of a detailed day by day account of my summer there. First Barcelona, I had a great time once I got a hotel and after that I had to get a ride to Girona which was an hour away. The reason being that my flight to Milan was leaving from that airport. Yeah, Ryan Air, cheap airfare but not without a catch... The airports they land in are far away from the city. For example, If you have to go to London, they'll fly you to London for a cheap prize but after that, you have to pay a lot of money in a taxi to take you to the actual city. I learned my lesson. Cheap is not best most of the time. Florence was awesome but hot!! Fortunately I met my friend Mimi there, and we hung out a lot. She stayed in my hotel room for 4 days. It was good to see her. She's one of my best friends from back home. One night we went to Rome, to dine at this awesome restaurant there called: The Supper Club. We had a great time and returned in the 5am train to Florence. Needless to day that day I didn't quite make it to class... I love Florence but I vowed never to return in the summer. It's too stuffy, which limits how far I could walk per day. Otherwise I spent a lovely 10 days in Florence and then back to Barcelona for 3 days and then home!!! I was homesick... It was the first time I'd travelled without having my mother- not even at the other end of a phone line to tell her about my trip. I missed her too much and I missed home so I changed my ticket to go home earlier and planned to go to NYC with my boyfriend and his parents.
But that's another story that I'll have to tell later on...

Until then,
ciao!
IYC.

To be or not to be...

That is actually not the lingering question in my mind right now. Let's recap this few past months since I've blogged. I went to Europe this summer, took a course in "Creativity" in Florence, hung out in Barcelona with my cousin who's not actually my blood cousin - he's the son of a really good friend of my mother's from Costa Rica and he and his sisters are like my cousins now. We have an out of blood bond. It's pretty cool. So I hung out with him in his apartment for one night. Yeah one night because I coudn't stand the heat and he didn't actually have air conditioning... So that pushed me to go get a hotel. I called hotels all night and coudn't find one. Not one had one room for lil' ol' me! Unbelievable... So the next day I decided to take it easy and just go sightseeing and chill the fuck out. I ask the taxi driver to take me to the center of the gothic town. He leaves me there and what do I see? A hotel! It was the Hotel Colón in the barrio gótico right in front of the gothic church (which is amazing by the way). By impulse I went in to the hotel to find out about rooms... Just in case right? I go into the lobby of the nice small hotel. Four Stars, not bad. I talk to the guy at reception and ask him if I could get a room there. He investigates in his computer and tells me that there's an executive room available but only for 3 nights. I think about it but not too much since I really want to have air conditioning. (Im not too much of an outside person) And in a swift action, I hand him my credit card...
"Ok your'e all set Ms. Carlo. This man will accompany to your room. Do you have any bags with you?" All I had was my backpack so I showed it to him and the guy accompanied me to my room. Room 508. I can't begin to explain the feeling of pure ecstasy I receieved when the man opened the door to the room. He left me and I started to investigate. Jump in the bed. Open all the doors, nice room, nice air conditioner! Cool... Then I open doors that lead to a small balcony and then my breath was taken away by the view... The gothic cathedral... Incredible... I stayed there for a bit, decided to leave my backpack and just take my camera and my purse with me t'ill I could get my luggage from my cousin's apartment to mine. Then I went to the Dalí museum which was just up the street from the hotel. I have pictures of all this but I can't put them here until I know how to do that... :S
Needless to say, I stayed in that hotel, even if it came out a bit expensive, I was happy so that's all that mattered.

Ok it actually didn't take me long but I've decided to go on with this blog... We'll see what happens. This is funny, I made this blog months ago and haven't kept up and now I have the sudden desire to get into it again. I hope that I keep with it.

To be continued...

Hi, it's been a while. I'm thinking of maybe deleting this blog... We'll see where my decision takes me. :)
